  - Tamil: Sarajparuppu, Moraetha  

  - Telugu: Sarapappu, Morli, Sara, Jaru manidi

Key Identification Features:-  

- Habit: Large evergreen tree (up to 15 m tall).  

- Bark: Rough, dark-grey, exfoliating.  

- Leaves: Simple, thickly coriaceous, broad, oblong; tomentose beneath with swollen petiole.  

- Inflorescence: Panicle of racemes.  

- Flowers: Small, white, with a fleshy central disk.  

- Fruit: Drupe.  


Flowering and Fruiting Period :-

January– April 


Habitat and Ecology:-  

- Occurs in deciduous to semi-evergreen forests, up to 1400 m elevation.  

- Produces copious gum; kernels used in sweetmeats.
